Heather,
I cannot help you at this point but recently the outfit called British
Ancestors had a free look-up offer for UK ancestors after 1855. I employed
them for a pre-1855 job (having made a little extra cash) and they found a
bundle in the Scottish National Archive for only 45 pounds UK (about $75
US - sorry I don't have the Canadian rate of exchange). But they might be
worth trying for the free deal since your search is of recent people. The
Monumental Inscriptions, Business Dirrectories and Court and Military
records may help. Their Scottish genealogist who helped me was Val Wilson
but you work through a man called Keith for the service. I am impressed
with Val's work but can only reach her through the BA service.
Try going onto the internet and typing in British Ancestors and I think you
will find them. Or e-mail Keith at
keith(a)britishancestors.com
I found them because they advertise on the rootsweb newsletter.
God luck, Diarmid
