Joy: As far as I know, Samuel Campbell was the oldest of three brothers
(that we know of)--the other 2 were James, (my paternal
gggg-grandfather), and William. This is ot to say there couldn't have
been other siblings. Samuel married Charity Edwards in Greene County, GA
in 1801. He and his 2 brothers show up in the early land records in
Madison County, MO in the early 1800's. James' wife's name was Amelia
(last name unknown); they had 9 children, all born in Madison County,
MO. James died around 1826; Amelia and all 9 children moved to Scott
County, ILL. after James' death. Samuel and his family (also had 9
children) mved to Washinton County, MO about 1827. Nothing is known
about William. Samuel had many business dealings with a John Campbell
over the years, which lead us to wonder if they were somehow related. We
don't know where the brothers were brn--best guesses are Virginia or the
Carolinas or Georgia. Samuel was born about 1765; best guess on James is
1774-1778; nothing for William, other than he was the youngest of the 3.
There is some speculation that their parents' names mght have been John
and Mary, but this hasn't been proven. Hope to hear from you soon. Nancy
