Thank you for your message.
Jane Campbell is the mother of my ancestor Francis Ord Marshall who
was born in London and died in Dutch East India (now Indonesia). His
descendants like my grandfather and father went to the Netherlands
after World War II, my family in 1958 when people had to choose
between giving up their Dutch passport or leaving the country.
In the meantime have found the death of Jane Campbell, she died in
Cowes, Island of Wight on April 7 1868 at the age 78.
That would mean she is born around 1790. In the possible 1851 census a
Jane Marshall widow living in London was stated as born in France
British subject.
Anyone experience with Campbells born in France during the 1790's?
Regards,
Ralph

Subject: [Campbell] Jane Campbell - baptized Fort Marlborough, Sumatra,
Indonesia
Dear members of this list,
One of my ancestors Jane Campbell was married to John Marshall in
Calcutta in 1808.
She is possibly baptized at Fort Marlborough-Bencoolen, Sumatra,
Indonesia on September 18, 1785.
At that time it was a colony of the British East Company.
Parents were John and Martha Campbell. John was stated as factor.
A possible marriage of the couple was John Campbell and Martha Field,
widow. September 10 1779 at Ford Marlborough. John was a
Lt-Fireworker.
A possible burial of John Campbell is 18 Oct 1802 Location: Ft.
Marlborough Senior merchant, Drowned off Padang Goochie.
My question: who has any suggestion or information about the parents
of Jane Campbell.
Who got access to the book Records of clan Campbell in the military
service of the Honourable East India company, 1600-1858 and wants to
look up John Campbells working at Fort Marlborough?
Kind regards,
Ralph Ravestijn, The Netherlands
