Thank you everyone for the kind words regarding my Gram's passing.
Hi Cousin Buck-it was hard on me. I carried her to her resting place in the Cemetery. She
raised me for a time while my mother and father separated, and shared with me her history
of growing up on the farm in Tennessee. She was my living connection to that time and
those relatives, and I'll miss her dearly. My G-Grandmother Anne Lee Ramsey died
giving Gram birth 29NOV1928. Annie Lee is the daughter of Jefferson Preston RAMSEY and
Mertie Lee HALE (note-Mertie Lee was born Lucy BALL, but was adopted by the HALE family
around 8 or 9 years of age; Mr. Hale didn't like Lucy's name and made her change
it to Mertie Lee). The Ramsey's and the Hales lived next door to each other in Gibson
County, and that's how they met. Jefferson was the son of William David RAMSEY
(1843-1897) and Mollie A. Robinson. William Davis was the son of Nace Preston RAMSEY and
Polly Ann WEBB-DAVIS). The line has been in Tennessee for some time, but I have not traced
Preston's line any earlier.
I hope you are feeling better my friend.
Rob

Rob;
I I feel that the loss of your grandmother was a little more special to you
than normal. My condolence my friend.
I am interested in your great grandmother - Anne Lee Ramsey? can you shed
any insight
into her heritage - especially if she was from Amherst or Nelson County.
Regards BH

Subject: [Campbell] Passing of a Campbell
It is with a heavy heart that I must announce the passing of my grandmother,
Campbell Cousin and Gibson County Child, Ms. Annie Mae CAMPBELL-KORNBERGER.
Annie Lee was born November 29, 1928 in Gibson County, TN., the daughter of
lifelong Gibson County residents Herman CAMPBELL and Annie Lee
RAMSEY-CAMPBELL. Her mother died giving her birth, and she was raised by her
stepmother, Bertie LOWRANCE, who was the only woman she ever called momma.
Annie Mae CAMPBELL-KORNBERGER passed on Monday May 21st at 6:26 AM in
Cicero, IL.
Annie Mae was the only child that reached adulthood of her father's Campbell
Line, and was a direct descendant of Lawrence CAMPBELL of colonial Amherst
CO., VA. She was 83 years old.
