Rob;
Although you may have found these Augusta County legal records on a
Rootsweb
records in Caroline county this does not mean that these Campbell records
apply or even refer to the Campbells of Caroline County or anywhere else
in
the Tidewater area,
I believe that you will find that the Campbells that moved into Augusta
county during the 1700's - although having some same given names such as
Patrick, John, etcthat we have, , they in no way are related to the
Campbells of Tidewater. These Campbells came out of Pennsylvania into
Augusta county around 1750's were mainly known as the "black and white
Campbells"but had moved south and west by 1850. There is an excellent
history of these Campbells on-line constructed by Phil Norfleet. Also,
The
history of the Tinkling Springs Presbyterian church in Augusta county
formed in 1737 has an excellent history of members and these Campbells
were
part of this religious facility. There has been very little exchange
between the Augusta county and Amherst county Campbells. BH
