You may have hit on something here. The timing is perfect for this John Campbell to have
dropped off son Fountain in Greenville in 1814 and head for Alabama. Who added that
Fountain Campbell was the oldest proven ancestor? This may be the link that both Sam
Campbell and Richard Brown have been chasing – yet , we do not know this John’s parents –
although we know that this John has a close link and connection to all the Caroline County
and Amherst County Campbells. Regards BH

Summary: In the early 1800's John Campbell arrived in Jackson
County
from Virginia where he was born in about 1779. On May 17, 1819 he married
Aney
Webster in Madison country in the Alabama Territory and moved to Tennessee
shortly thereafter. They then moved back to Alabama and we find them in
Madison and Jackson county. We do not know for sure what county they were in,
while living in Tenn. but there is a strong indication that they were going
back and forth between Madison and Jackson counties in Ala. and Lincoln
and Franklin counties in Tenn. John and Aney had 8 children.
