1673 Courts established for(by Dutch) for Delaware Colony at Upland, New
Amstead & Hoarkill
In 1674 New Amstel became New Castle.
In 1678 New Castle gained from Upland.
In 1680 St. Jones formed from New Castle & Hoarkill (DE)(Note: Hoarkill was
part of Deale (once New Deal).
1681 Hoarkill changed to Deale (was New Deal).. thought so.
1682 Deale changed to Sussex, St Jones changed to Kent, Chester created by
PA (DE colony acquired by Wm Penn from Duke of York).
1685 Royal decision dividing peninsula between Maryland and Delaware Colony.
Boundary not yet established. This effectively eliminated Worcester county
MD.
1704 Delaware as "The three lower counties" acquires effective self-rule
from PA
1760, Maryland-Delaware boundary defined. This included the counties of New
Castle, Kent & Sussex.
1775 Sussex (DE) gained from Kent (DE) DE county boundaries extended west to
MD line.
Hope this gives you some pointers as to where to look for DE family.
PA & MD good additions!

Subject: [CAMPBELL] John Campbell of Delaware
Hi List,
My John of Delaware seems to me, at least, to be a mystery man!
He died in 1726 in New Castle Co., DE, leaving a wife Julyan and a daughter
Sarah who had married a Seeley and later a Murphey as well as a probable son
Charles.
From deeds I have learned that he purchased 600 A of land there in
1712.
Does anyone know or have any ideas as to WHO he was?
I'm at a complete loss as to how to go any further.
Phyllis of San Mateo, CA
