I'm not arguing about the French side, and nor am I arguing about the
British side. Just trying to make sure that others don't get confused.
You are indeed fortunate if you have managed to trace and document your
family that far back.
Dooubt that I'll be able to do that.
It's one thing to have names it's the getting the hard evidence that's the
problem.

However, William the Conqueror was a Norman, whose ancestors made a

with the French King to maintain order and allegiance to the King, in
return for titles and land. A long string of them were in present day
Normandy before William Conquered England in 1066.
William is my 47th great grandfather through families such as the Fitz
Randolphs, DeWarren, Plantagenet, and Bigod.
