I am researching James Alexander Campbell and Elizabeth Wilson. They were married around
or a little before 1800 in
Abbeville Co., SC. She was first married to John Edmiston by whom she had four children .
According to his will dated 3-17-1789, there were John, Andrew, James and an unborn
child.
Elizabeth and James Alexander Campbell had at least three children. According to her will
dated 1-23-1807 she mentioned John Edmiston, John, James and Lydia Wilson Campbell. She
gave Lucy Edmiston 1 calico habit. She is assumed to be the unborn child of John and
Elizabeth Edmiston. She did not mention Andrew and James Edmiston..
Mary Smith, a McAlister researcher of many years, thinks James Alexander Campbell was also
a widower when he married Elizabeth and that he had not died when Elizabeth wrote her will
but helped her because of the two families. I cannot find a will for him. Lydia
Wilson Campbell married James W. McAlister about 1826 in Abbeville Co. After his death
in 1844, the family moved to Coosa Co., AL. Mrs. Smith thinks some of the Campbells
probably went with them to AL.
I would really like to know the parents and siblings of James Alexander Campbell and what
happened to his descendants other than Lydia's.
Just from general research, I think he might be related to Duncan Campbell.
Thanks for any information anyone may have on this family.
