Jo Campbell in Oklahoma,
Thanks for mentioning where you live, it sure helps in trying to help you!
The grave stones in the Cape Fear area of NC have often the names of farms
where families came from.
Therefore it might be useful if you looked to see whether there are listings
of Monumental Inscriptions (MIs) which you could find for the Cape Fear
area. I know of one farm mentioned there which is near Tayviallich in north
Kaapdale (not far from Lochgilphead in Argyll)) and heave heard of others.
So try on line for the MIs for Cape Fear.
The publication which deals with the history of the Cape Fear area is Argyll
Colony Plus, and you could contact the Genealogist of the Clan Cambpell
Society (North America) to ask whether she has information about Argyll farm
names found on tombstones - or for ship passenger lists to the Cape Fear
area. Since her work is voluntary it is customary to send an SAS plus a
small donation towards copying, stationary etc. Dr. Ruby Campbell PhD, 3310
Fairway Drive, Baton Rouge LA 70809 USA.

Subject: [CAMPBELL] Cape Fear - Scotland Origins
I would like to inquire if anyone might know location(s) within
Scotland
that some of the immigrant Campbell families of Cape Fear, North Carolina
originated. I'm traveling to Scotland in July and would like to visit
places that are associated with some of these families. Have been
unsuccessful at locating the origins of my own Cape Fear Campbell family,
but it would still be nice to see some of the neighbor's home places.
I've only read of a few locations being linked with the Cape Fear area.
Argyll (but nothing specific in Argyll), Kintyre, and the isle of Jura.
Thought I'd ask if other places, or more specific places, are known.
Thanks in advance for any responses.
