Hey, I'm game for naming patterns! Does anyone recognize this group?
William Franklin Campbell b. December 22, 1862 in TN, MS, AR, or MO. Sorry,
every census and record I've found so far name a different birth place, lol.
He married Roseada GIBSON in 1885 (Greene County, Arkansas). Daughter of
Leroy E. and Angeline (GRISSOM) Gibson.
Kids:
1. Maude Anne Campbell
2. Robert F. Bergen Campbell
3. Kester Bedford Campbell
4. Gracie May Campbell
5. Benjamin Franklin Campbell
6. Quincy Lee Campbell
7. Della Audrey Campbell
8. Stella Rae Campbell
9. Nellie Jewell Campbell
10. Elvey B. Campbell
11. Mella Susan Campbell.
Does anyone recognize these children's names or middle names as surnames in
their Campbell lines? This family resided in Craighead County, Arkansas,
until William's death in 1909. Rose remarried to Marian B. LANKFORD in
1919. She and Marion were still found in Craighead County for the 1920 and
1930 censuses.
Thanks,
~Michelle

Subject: Re: [CAMPBELL] naming pattern
Perhaps I'm butting in where I wasn't invited but Campbell
naming patterns
may be a little complex but they do exist. At least in some lines.
Check not only given names which many times skip generations or use aunts
and
uncles. Middle names often are insights into the surnames of
inlaws;
particularly grandparents and others of that generation.
Check naming patterns against census records to see if there are clues in
the
neighborhood. Be sure to look several locations away as some of the
"neighbors" were "across the field" and therefore not next door.
No guarantees but naming patterns have been a big help to a lot of people.
Good luck.
