As a Campbell with a history going back to before the revolutionary war and
with relatives fighting in every war since then and our women who not only
helped fight when the war was on our soil but who waited crying at home when their
loved ones did not return and lately these women are now in combat on ground
, air and sea. let us take a moment to remember Campbell,s who died keeping
our ancestors alive. Christmas eve 1644 many massacred by many clans. One
incident during this massacre was a barn where 300 Campbells were herded into and
the barn was burned to the ground. I have seen different numbers on how many
died so I can't say for sure. Fifty years later our ancestors were villified
for the 38 MacDonalds at Glencoe. As our chiefs took the Scottish side
against England in all the many wars thousands more died. Our Campbell slogan says
it best (NEVER FORGET)
Amen! What a great point!
