Hi,
If you haven't already, You can find out more about the McPherson clan on
their website -
http://www.clan-macpherson.org/header.html#MENU
The earliest dates I have for my New York Campbells are 1835, so they could
be related somehow. I don't have any more information farther back in time
and don't know when they came to the states. They married into the
Gillespie family, a sect of Clan McPherson, much later.

Peggy,
Angus Campbell in (possibly) Coarnach. I do not have an adequate map of
the
Kingussie area - what you give is presumably the parish name - but it
is
possible that Coarnach is towards Loch Laggan and the district of
Lochaber.
If the family was Catholic is it possible that Angus was one of the
MacGlaiserach Campbells (who sometimes only used MacGlaisserach). They
had
come to Lochaber in the 14th or 15th century from Glassary in Argyll
due
to
the head of their family catching the 'crowner' (a local
official)
mistreating his wife and so killing him. He moved his family to Lochaber
and they eventually became the bodyguards of MacDonald of Keppoch. There
are descendants of these MacGlaiserach Campbells in Mabou, Nova Scotia
today.
