Highway 10 is indeed nearly straight from Carrollton to Norborne.
The jog you mention is through the old Ballast (sp) Pits. Then, after
Norborne, the road curves way out to the south before going
straight for miles, only to have to curve way back north to get
into Hardin. It has only been in the last 10-15 years that we
no longer have to travel from Richmond up through Excelsior
Springs to get to the city. Now, 210 takes off from Richmond
and leads us right on in.... much easier!

Ah, good old highway 10. As a youngster in the 1940s and 50s, that
was
our
main route between Kansas City, and Carrollton. Richmond, Hardin,
Norborne.
Pretty much a straight highway except for some reason, it jumps around a
tree and some water for about a half mile.
