Dear Shirley and others,
Now that you mention a mysterious DAVID Campbell, I will write something
which I have been wondering about.
I research a 2 county area in Virginia called Amherst Co and Nelson Co, the
numerous Campbell families in my ancestry are concentrated there.
I have NEVER seen a DAVID Campbell in my ancestry files, until another
researcher sent an email commenting on a Nelson County Patent Grant Map, to
1800.
Nelson Co was formed in 1808 from Amherst Co.
On this map, which I do not have, but can find help for you if you need it,
the researcher says there are 4 Campbell names listed:
John Campbell
George Campbell
Joel Campbell
David Campbell, as of 1793.
From this sketchy info, I believe there is proof there was a David Campbell
in my Campbell ancestral area. But I have never found any one refering to
him as their ancestor, or a Will. This 'might' mean he sold out and moved
AWAY. And that is a possible connection to your family.
That is as much as I have right now, but save this info and maybe later more
will come to light.
Best regards,
Lilly Martin

Margo,
I have a David Campbell, born in OH in 1819, whose father, ? Campbell, was
born in VA. Would you happen to have another David who was born around
that
time? My David lived in Lawrence County, OH. and was married to Mary
Conway
of that county. David is my blank wall since I don't know his
father's
name
or what part of Virginia he was from.
