Dear Campbell-Related Friends,
Judi has repeated the request that I attempted a little while ago about the
SUBJECT LINE.
It is to help others with their Campbell (or related) family history.
Here's how you can help:
Writing in the subject of our message is very important. Please, if you see
yourself as a kind person, take a moment to do this:
Maybe it is because a bunch of us don't know how to change what is written
in the SUBJECT LINE
So here is my way of doing it.
At the top of your screen there are three long slots of white among the gray
On the left is written; "To", "Cc" meaning 'copy' and
"Subject:"
Move your arrow into the bottom one that is called 'Subject'.
Look carefully and you can see it has the word 'Subject' on the left of the
long box or slot.
Click inside that box. If you click to the left of what is written there in
the slot, press the DELETE button on your keyboard.
If you click to the right of the writing, use your BACKSPACE
arrow.
Either way will work and get rid of all the writing that is there.
Then:
Write in what the subject of your message is. It is truly not that
complicated and takes only second.
Even if you are writing about a similar subject but about a different
person, put their name in there. People who read these messages look for
the ones that relate to their search.
The reason for doing this is that it makes it so much easier for others to
see from the SUBJECT LINE what messages are worth their time to read - and
what they can instantly delete.
Also, all these messages are 'archived' - kept for others to review.
If the messages are not given a Subject that is what the messages are about,
it means anyone looking at teh Archive has to plow through a whole bunch of
stuff. So not putting the correct subject line is very unkind to them.
So please be kind and take a moment to help others. I know that you will.
Many thanks, Diarmid Campbell

Subject: [CAMPBELL] Subject line request
Hi all my fellow Campbells.
I have a small request to make of you if you would be
so kind.
I am researching Campbells in Argyllshire SCOTLAND and
in ONTARIO only. Therefore I am not interested in,
nor to I have any knowledge of Campbell's that came
from parts of the USA.
However when I am reading my Campbell list digests I
must wade thru every email because very few put the
place names in their subject lines. This is very time
consuming and very frustrating to me especially since
I also belong to 13 other mailing lists.
So please could I request that you at least put the
country in your subject lines..for example John
Campbell, USA or John Campbell, Scotland etc etc.
That way I could at least delete immediately any
digests that don't pretain to the geographical area
that I am searching in. Thanking you in advance for
any assistance you can render me.
