Looking for Campbell's that were probably born in White County Illinois or
Ga.
John Wesley Campbell's, (spelled Camel on the 1820 census and Cammel 1830
census,)
records show 3 sons under 20 and one female that was probably born about
1815.
John Wesley Campbell and wife (Caty Patton not proved) were married in
Jackson Co. Ga. in 1808. First son was James C. Campbell born Ga between 1809 and
1811. Second son, Patton Campbell was born in 1813 in Warren County Ga. Third
son, and female I have never found information for.
The family according to Patton Campbell's obituary moved to White County
Ills. when he was three (1816-17). The family lived out at Phillipstown. I do
know that by 1828 John Wesley had remarried to Fanny Poole. James C. married a
Mary Hodkins (James Hodkins daughter) in White Co. Illinois who was dead by
1934. They had one daughter, Nancy. James and Patton Campbell left White
County before 1934 and went to McLean County, Leroy Illinois. Patton also states
on his census records that his father was born in Ga. (around 1775 and Mother
in Tenn.) If the naming pattern is correct then John Wesley's father would
have been a James Campbell.
This family was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church out by Phillipstown.
I have posted information several years ago about this family but have never
had any inquires.
