David,
If you go to the Library again I would Appreciate it if you could check for me !!!!!!!
Fountain Campbell died before 1890, as his 2nd. wife Mary { living at Hansonville,
Russell county, VA. } was living off his Pension & was listed as Widow of Fountain
Campbell. This is years before your 5 Volume Books of Questions & Answers of Tenn. War
Veterans was Published. I still think it was interesting that Fountain Campbell's 2nd.
wife { Mary } would leave Greene County, TN. & go to Fountain Campbell's Family by
1st. marriage { Clarinda } in Russell County, VA..

Sam et al,
I also have relatives (Ghormley) from Tellico Plains, Greene Co, TN. While
at the Tampa Public Library a few years ago I noted a 5 volume set of Civil
War questionnaires and answers dated about 1920-1922 which had been published
by the State of Tennessee. On a whim I checked the name of one of my
ancestors who was old enough to have served. Not only was their survey present, the
answers to the 42 questions covered their life, and the last one provided
the family male line back to about 1722 and the travels they had followed from
Ireland to get to Tennessee.
If Fountains children or grand-children were still living in Tennessee when
the survey was taken, and participated, you might be able to break past the
wall. At a minimum, getting a survey from one of the principal ancestors in
their own words has a value of its own. It may be possible to find similar
items in other states around the same time frame.
Just thought you would want to know what is possible with the source.
