Dear Gary,
I am not an expert, but I think the John and Grace Hay Campbell family has
been written extensively about. Phil Norfleet is the main researcher. I
don't know him personally, but have seen his name around alot.
He identified the 2 lines which come down called "White David" and "Black
David", refering to their HAIR color.
do a google search on these names I have given you and you will find alot
written about them. I need to do this also, I have never focused on them,
but I know I should.
My George Campbell must be related to them, but how? Was the father of
George Campbell a nephew to John?
Maybe our relaitionship is way back in Scotland at an ancient point, which
will not help my research at all. So I just don't know what to think right
now, too early.
Best regards,
Lilly Martin

Subject: [CAMPBELL] DNA Help
Dear List:
On May 13 Lilly Martin suggested a discussion of DNA. I share her thoughts
on
having a discussion of this list concerning all phases of DNA research.
Hopefully list members will ask questions and someone knowledgeable on
this
subject will provide answers to basic, practical and complex questions.
Or perhaps someone who has had an actual positive result will share their
experience.
Here are some starter questions.
My family cousin has supplied a DNA sample up through the 37 marker
test. The 12 and 25 marker test was made and the result was no
(zero) deviation from certain selected other samples (or kits as they are
called).
But that leaves a 225 year gap between our last known "brickwalled"
ancestor (in this case Wiley Campbell, we think born 1846) and the
earliest DNA
connected ancestor family (who happens to be John Campbell (born 1621) and
Grace Hay)
I realize the result would only be a POSSIBLE answer. There is nothing in
the
result that will be absolute. But I am hopping to get some clue or
suggested
course of action as to where and how to search.
1- How do we go about closing this 225 year gap to get a possible answer?
2-What are the possible courses of action to resolve this problem?
It seems that the name John Campbell (b1621) and his wife Grace Hay
come-up
from time to time. Perhaps everyone that has any sort of connection to
this
John Campbell and Grace Hay on this list, should be connected together.
3- If you are connected what is your name and address?
Another basic question, If these DNA samples point back to 1600s
4-How did they come up with a sample from back then?
If this information comes by way of some sort of paper trail:
5-Who has it? How do we get that paper trail made public?
Perhaps these questions seem dumb; good, enlighten me and the rest of us.
Thanks,
Glenn
