Does anyone on this list have Campbell ancestry from Edinburgh (specifically
Causewayside) at the turn of the 1900s?
I am just about to start serious study into my roots. My family came into
Edinburgh from Possil Park, Glasgow, from Argyll before that and according
to family tradition from the Braes of Lochaber before that. They were
pipers.
My grandfather (paternal) was John (Jack) Campbell - his brother, Duncan
(Dunkie), was a prominent Edinburgh piper who had served in the 10th Argylls
in the Somme during WW1, and later the Edinburgh Corporation Transport, then
a leading band in the between war years. The paternal line was the one that
came through Possil Park and is the piping link.
My grandfather (maternal) was also John Campbell (different people, of
course). The maternal line is from Edinburgh.
I would be interested to hear if there is anyone on this list with either
similar connections or through
the older line, the MacGlasraichs from the Braes of Lochaber.
Or even anyone with piping links.
