It is really great reading on here how things "used" to be in the old
days.....these things shouldn't be forgotten. They are a part of our heritage,
remembering how things were, what our families had to go thru. That is one
reason that I love genealogy so much. I do hope that you have written these
things down for posterity.
My daddy was born in 1876 in a logging camp in Indiana, and was almost 60
years old by the time I was born. My most fun time was to sit on his lamp with
an old lantern burning instead of the electric light, & listen to the
wonderful tales he used to tell me! How he used to go
"a courtin" on his horse, and fall asleep on his way home, but the horse
always remembered the way home. Some of the tales were pretty tall & colorful,
but there was so much truth in some that he told too. My kids have always
loved to hear about these....
I never thought I would be able to find out more about his life or family,
but thru wonderful people like on this list, I have and I never tire of
hearing of the way things used to be.....Thanks for sharing......
