BEEN more logical.
The Blue Ridge & Great Smokey, Allegheny & Appalachian Mountain's. I have
a Map of the Va. Area from 1710, There was the Indian Trail From the South
through the Shenandoah Valley on
North, Today that area has U. S. Rt. 11 & I-81.
Then there was another Indian Trail that ran North & South through the
Middle of Va. This was Known as the Seminole
Trail Which is today US RT 29 that runs from Fla to between Wash, D. C. &
Balt.
The only Natural Potential Connection from North Central Va
To North GA, WAS the James River Crossing the Blueridge Mountains Between
Current Amherst Co & Botetourt Counties
The next Low or reasonable Crossing is Between Bedford Co & Roanoke County,
The Next place that there is indication of Getting through the Mountains is
Currently U S RT 52<Not in Pioneer Days> Between Martinsville & Abingdon Va.
the next way was around the Southern end of the Mountain Range in Ga.
Then The Appalachian MTN, Range. ???- From N. West Pa To the New River in
Va An East to West Flowing River From N. C. to
Kanawha River from Central West Va west to Ohio, Both the New & Kanawha
Rivers could be Rafted.
Some of My Wilmore Family migrated to Galia County from Rockbridge Co Va.
The Folk lore concerning the White Settlement of Va. is that The Whites
Followed the Rivers inland. Other than Foot travel across the Mountains,__??, Now
My Amherst County Family Had what was Called a Ground Sled. Made by Cutting
Two Small trees with t Crook in the Tree Hugh it into a Runner Bore Holes in
the Runners & trim a piece of wood for 4 Standards & ANOTHER piece of wood for a
Cross Bar for a floor to be Connected THAT was used for Farm Transportation
where the Terrain was TOO steep
For a wagon, The Sled Could have been used BUT the Sled needed some Kind of
a Trail, <ROAD> Path??? STILL makes more scenses to have Followed the River
Or to have gone around the Mountain, OH INTIME, Us 250 From Richmond to
Staunton Va. RT 33 From Richmond to Harrisonburg, Va, U. S. 60 from Newport News to
The West through Lexington Va. & U S RT 460 From Norfolk WEST. Through Va. By
Way of Crossing the Blue Ridge AT the low Gap between Bedford & Roanoke
Counties on
West along the Water line Most of the way into West Va back into Va & along
the Water Course into KY. U,S. 460 is the Trail of the Lonesome Pine. __??
Another Indian Trail??
WHEN Following Our Road Maps Note the Routing Often goes near a River, <
Check the Age of the roads Those that Cross the Mountains are not as old as those
that Follow closer to the Water COURSES.
NOW, COUSINS, Following is the most preposterous, figment of Genealogical
Imagination that I have seen Posted.
TO WIT, The Information I have from several Sources. Lady
Mary C. Campbell <Daughter of Sir James Campbell, Fith Baronet of
Auchibreck and Kinswoman Lady Susan Campbell >,
Born 2 Jun 1690 in Edinburgh, Argylishire, Scotland and died in 1742 at
mountain Plains in Blair Park. Albemarle, Virginia. <????
Albemarle Virginia?? NO Such Place & Albemarle County was not Formed From
Goochland & Louisa Counties until 1744>
Married in May 1704 in Scotland Michale Woods <son of John
Andrew Woods ll and Elizabeth Worsop >born in 1684 at Castle Dunshauglin in
County Meath, Ireland and Died on 11/June/ 1762 at Mountain Plains in Blair
Park, Albemarle, Virginia<????>
in 1734 they became pioneer Settlers with their Sons and Daughters and
Families traveling from Pensylvania and becoming Owners of Thousands of acres on
Lickinghole, Mechem's River and Bait Park at the mouth of Woods gap<Now Jarmans
Gap> at the foot of the Blueridge Mountains as the first
non American Indian Settlers of the Blue Ridge Mountains. <NOW when this
gets to those Mountain Campbell Cousins of mine that have ROOTS in the AREA
claimed in This___?? since before Records, WELL I will just sit back & Listen>
Their Mountain Plains Plantation Became Blair Park when Passed Down to Chief
Justus John Blair.
NOW: First where else is there any Reference to Albemarle Virginia, ???/
Albemarle County Va was not Formed until 1744.
NOW again: the Amherst County Heritage Book 1st Edition Gives Many reports
of WHITE women as having been in The area of Albemarle, in 1744, Amherst
County in 1761 & Nelson County
In 1808 Long before This Campbell Group are supposed to have Arrived. I am
not saying some Group of Campbell's DID NOT live in the area described. BUT I
am questioning, the Researching, to
Have people in the Area. Of Albemarle, Which I have never seen before
shown as a Place in Va, named Albemarle Virginia. Albemarle County Was formed
after the researcher was using Albemarle, Va. STILL not saying that this group did
not live in VA
But there are TOO MANY BOO BOO.s for this to have been
Thoroughly Researched.
