Indiana became a territory in 1800, and a state in 1816. Prior to that it
was considered Northwest Territory. I would look to VA, The Carolinas and
Kentucky (per Handy book for Genealogists, this is where first settlers were
mostly from).
Indiana Federal court records did start in 1800 though... Not sure that
would help you.
Orange co IN...all counties involved start with Knox co IN... So I would
maybe want to check there also. Knox county IN should have marriage,
probate and tax records from about 1806-1807 to begin with, which may help
you some.

Seeking information on parents and family of Robert CAMPBELL b.
1800-1815 in Indiana? and his son, Henry C. b. 1832 in Orange County
Indiana according to his death certificate from IL in 1920. Robert was
married to Mary MAGNER. Henry C. was married to 1. Mary Louisa JACOBS
1957 in Coles County, IL 2. Mary ADKINS 1872 in Coles County IL 3.
Nettie CLARK 1877 in Edgar County IL. Any and all information is
appreciated.
