Hi
Would your Wilsons have migrated from Donegal.?The names certainly be found
there as well as scotland. My grandfather John Wilson left for Canada in 1862
on the Barque Kane with his family. His wife was Catholic - I think his
family disowned him. That is why I am trouble finding his siblings and
parent.A cousin from Min.USA got in touchwith me and he organised a DNA test
at Family .DNA with my oldest Cousin. The match was spot on the details can
be found on that database. It seems a lot of my Campbell and Wilson families
went to the USA via Canada..
regards Gerry

Subject: [Campbell] MAYBE THIS IS YOUR PROBLEM IN LOCATEING THE INFORMATION
My line:
I am still searching for Samuel Wilson, Pendleton WV/Lewis County, WV, >
William Wilson Pendleton county WV./Lewis County, WV, > John L Wilson,
Lewis
County Va > John William Wilson Highland County Va. > John Melton Wilson,
Pendleton
County WV.
You do not give the dates, BUT, Pendelton 1788 was formed
From, Hardy, Augusta, Rockingham & Bath Counties while this area was Still
Va, Until 1862.
Lewis County 1816 Formed from Harrison, Still a Va. Period
Highland County, Va.1847 formed from Bath & Pendleton
some Records were Destroyed by Fire 1947.
There fore the Records some records were kept in the county from which
the
New County was Formed.
The only Va County that I have Found This Mentioned is for Augusta
County,
Va that was formed from Orange County in 1738 & the Augusta Records were
Kept
in Orange County Court House until 1744.
Something that I find to be a Great help in Researching in Va, TYPE into
your Search Engine: <formation of Virginia Counties> You will get a 12
Page
Print out, Covering from the original 8 Shires, Through the Formation of
The
Counties of Ve & the ones in West Va, + As the Westward expansion
Continued, Va,
Created Kentucky County, Illinois, County.
The North West Territory was ceded to the Nation & became a Territory,
This voluntary to the Nation Included all of the Ohio Valley & parts of
Wisc. &
Mich.
SO many researchers Wear them selves out Searching <A>
County records, when IF only they knew from Which & When That County was
formed, they Could find what they are looking for in the County from which
the
County of Interest came.
I have the Formation of the Counties in Va, N. C. Tenn & KY
The Smokey Mountains are one GREAT BIG brick wall in Research, So many
Researchers have lost their Ancestors in
West North Carolina, Because That Area that was West North Carolina,
Became
East Tenn in 1793.
For instance, On line one finds that Campbell Station was Built in North
Carolina When it is Shown on the Road Map on U. S. RT 11 between
Knoxville &
Bristol Tenn.
So often I see events shown a County Years before that County was Formed.
One more BIT, In searching for Marriage Records, so often Never Found in
the
County that the Couple lived in. Reason, The couple were Married BY the
Circuit
Rider, After the Wedding, The Rider was headed to the next County, The
Court
House was Closer in the Next County than Riding Back to the County Seat
of
Marriage, SO, The Marriage's were Recorded in the Next County.
THAT is why I believe that I should Have; a Map of Richmond, Henrico
County
The State of Va & The Road Atlas, World Almnac, Dictionary, A couple of
Cem.
Books
5 County Heritage Books 2 from Amherst Co. Va. + some Family Books.
AND AS important as the fact one is my Cousin is to know Where the
Cousins
Live, I have found Cousins from Many Families, For instance, I have a very
helpful Cousin in Stockton Ca. If I need INFO From Stockton, Ca. HEY CUZ/
When I was ABLE to drive down town Richmond, Va. I found MUCH
Information.
I have recently Found a Younger Cousin that says that we will Visit the
Va.
State Library.
I see so much of a mistake in, Not Posting Name, Date & Geographical
Location, True either one MAY help, But ALL 3 are needed, GET the County
Formation
Charts. IT IS EASY.
CUZ A T <atpowelljr(a)aol.com>
