I checked online...YJIS seems to be a misspelling of THIS (fingers on wrong
keys). Haven't been online a lot, so not sure where you saw the jigs, does
THIS fit into that words place?
An Ascendancy chart will look just like a Decendency chart...depends on
where you are on the chart.
My Ascendants would be my parents and anyone in my direct familial lines
born before I was. If I grandma looks at it...she has ancestors and
descendants on the same chart.
If I were to just list myself, my husband and our children, it's a
decendency chart...but for my grandchildren, it's ascendancy.
If it's listed as an ascendancy chart, that means that the person who
compiled it is listing all the known ancestor's and no one after. Where I
find the confusion is when the compiler also lists his/her children &
grandchildren...then, IMO, it's a genealogical recording of both.
Webster's is correct in it's definition of Ascendancy.. You go up, in
decendancy, you go down.
Now let them use that one on Millionaire!
Still looking for Ascendant's of Good Ol' Ellis Campbell b 1804 in VA.

I just thought you took my post as something other than what it was.

I still want to know what YJIS stands for and why it is called an
Ascendancy list when it appears to be a decendency list. Someone must
know.
