That was a different Richard who was in Tennessee quite a few years ahead of
our Richard. Thanks, though.

Our Richard Campbell was just Lieutenanant, not a Lt. Col.
Actually my line is to William who was certainly kin to Lt. Richard but was
about 20 years younger. He could have been a much younger brother or a
nephew. My line to him is through his son, Richard Campbell who was born in
1821, married Mildred Adalette McMackin, and died in 1887. Richard and
Addie only had two children and their only son had no sons so our line
"daughtered out." William's other children were James, John, Joseph D.,
Lewis, William Jr., Hiram, Duncan, Jane and my Richard. Census records
indicate there were three other daughters but I have not been able to
identify them.
Richard was born 1755, served in the Revolution, married (1st) Susannah
(probably Leake) and (2nd) Rachel Smith. By the first marriage he had son
James and daughter, Mary. By Rachel he had Hiram, Smithy (a daughter who
may have actually be Samantha), John, Elizabeth, William Duncan, Wiley and
Tubal. I have

Mildred. My gggfaher was a son of John Campbell who was son of Lt. Col.
Richard Campbell. Cousins Jean Sellers, Doug Daniel and me did a DNA test to
Lt. Col. Richard Campbell. I am a direct male descenden of Lt. Col. Richard
Campbell.
I really wish that you found a male descendent to take the DNA test.
Can you give me your lineage line to Richard Campbell.
Thanks in advance cousins.
Julian Campbell.

Some cousins and I are looking for a male cousin who might be willing to do
a cheek scrape for us. We need a direct-line male descendant of Lt. Richard
Campbell who lived in Richmond County, NC, Fairfield County, SC and who died
in Perry County, TN in 1844. Or of William Campbell who we believe to have
been a younger brother or possibly a nephew of Richard. He was born ca 1774
and died between 1850 and 1860 in Hickman County, TN and married Jane,
maiden name unknown. Each of these men left several sons so there must be
somebody out there!
