Sorry to disagree but Smithy was married to James Campbell, eldest son of
Richard and Susannah. I have a deed from Fairfield County, SC where she
waived her dower rights as the wife of James Campbell. Also, I have doubts
about Susannah Leake being Richard's mother. I think she was his first
wife. We know from Rachel's pension application that his first wife was
Susannah. Richard Leake's will:

James Campbell who married Susannah Leak had a son William born about 1756
in North Carolina and died between 1824 and 1850 in Tennessee or Arkansas.
He was married to Smithie ( Samantha) Smith.
Richard Campbell and Rachel Smith had a son William Campbell born 11 July
1799 in Fairfield, South Carolina and died 8 April 1852 in Franklin County,
Arkansas. He was married to Nancy Dornell.
Hope this helps some.

Actually, we don't exactly have the same family! My line is through William
and Jane Campbell of Hickman County. I believe but, cannot prove, that
William was a considerably younger brother of Richard. Both were millers,
each named their eldest son James, each named a son Hiram, William had a
Richard and Richard had a William. However, despite all our clues, we lack
any proof whatsoever of their relationship.
Williamson County Marriages certainly does show Richard Campbell married
Frances Neely (someone told me it was wrongly transcribed and should be
Kelley). Perhaps I am mixing up my Campbells. Simeon married a Barber and I
know someone else did.
Sorry, y'all. I am probably confused.
Merry Christmas!

Mickey, we have corresponded before. We do have the same Campbell family,
but I have that Richard Campbell Jr. married Frances Kelly. I can't get to
my genealogy right now, so I don't know where I got that info. A lot of the
Campbell children I know married Barbers I know.

The younger Richard of Hickman County is a son of Revolutionary soldier
Richard Campbell and his wife, Rachel Smith. According to his mother's
Bible, he was born 30 Apr 1797. He married Frances Barber.
I have no clue who the older Richard in Hickman is. He is shown as 80-90
years old which would make him born between 1740 and 1750.
I don't know the Lincoln County Campbells either.
