Hello,
I would like to give you a few ideas on how to find living people who are
related to you. First you could look at the funeral home records in
Birmingham, AL for the man you mentioned. Based on those records, his next
of kin, with names and locations would be mentioned. This might be very old
news, but it would give you a start at least on known locations.
Next, you can try
www.zabasearch.com This is a way, FREE of charge to find
living people. But with a name like Campbell, you will have to be patient,
you will need to narrow the search based on location. This method does
allow you to narrow the search based on age, or birth year.
For example: John Smith who was born in 1945 is very different than John
Smith born in 1965. So even a common name can be found by paying attention
to ages. Now, not every listing will have an age, but may will.
I have used this website to find current addresses to all my cousins, but in
this case I knew where they lived, and their spouses names, so it was not
too difficult to do.
Once you find a name and location which looks promissing, then do a dounble
check in a telphone directory online, like
www.whitepages.com or
www.switchboard.com and just confirm that the name and address are current,
as the previous website does have some addresses which are a few years old,
and people may have moved recently. Then use your telephone to call them
and get a chat going to see if they are related.
If worse comes to worse, you can use a private detective service. I used
one and it was under $20.00 to find an old friend I had lost track of. They
told me they use a database based on Department of Motor vehicles records,
in that case I knew her maiden name and birth year. This detective told me
his biggest customers are Mothers of small kids, where the Father has run
off, and does not send support to the children, and then they have to find
him. They call this a "Dead-Beat-Dad". So first try to find your people for
free, and then if you had to you can resort to other methods available.
Best regards,
Lilly Martin

Subject: [Campbell] Campbell COUSINS
I need help in locating 3 cousins, John Wayne Campbell, Tommy Campbell
and
H. Frank Campbell (the H. could possibly be Henry).
Their parents were Henry Frank Jr. and Mary Pat Staunton. Their father
Frank Jr. (as the family knew him), died in Mendon, MA. After the death
of their father it seems like our family lost contact with them, I think
their mother married again. Frank Jr. was in WWII and before his death he
worked as a construction engineer. Frank Jr. was the son of Henry Frank
Campbell and Mary Jennette Hicks, she went by the name of Nettie Mary.
Before he moved to Maryland this family lived in Birmingham, Alabama and
his body was brought back there for burial.
Would like to get in touch with one of these cousins. Their grandmother
Nettie Mary was the sister of my mother Sarah Hicks Rakestraw. Would love
to tell her I have found her nephews as this would make her feel so good
as in October of this year she will be 104.
Thanks to anyone that could possibly help me with this family.
