Hi - I am doing research on Dennis & Emily CAMPBELL, and they had 3
children, but I do not know their names. Dennis was the manager of the
Paraguayan railways. Emily was born in Union County, Pennsylvania in 1869.
Emily had a brother, John ECCLESTON, born in Union County, Pennsylvania, in
1868. He was a graduate of Bucknell University, and after he became ill, his
mother, brought him and Emily to Argentina. Both John and his wife - name
unknown - taught in his mother's private schools in Argentina. John also
served as an interpreter for Theodore Roosevelt during his expeditions
through South America.
The parents of John and Emily ECCLESTON were Charles Frederick &
Sarah/Sallie E. (Chamberlin) ECCLESTON (married in 1866). Charles was born
Sept. 21, 1837 in Milford, DE, and died Jan. 21, 1875, in Lewisburg, PA.
Sarah/Sallie was a nurse during the Civil War in Nashville, TN. About 1883,
she went to Argentina to start kindergartens, and became known as the
"Grandmother of Argentina Kindergartens". She was born April 8, 1840 in
Union County, Pennsylvania, and died and is buried in Buenos Aires in the
British Cemetery. She died on Oct. 10, 1916.
