The Campbell men #1-#5
The Campbell men #1-#5, I do not have much info at all. This is one area I will need to
work on. The interesting thing is George (#3) may have had 480 acres on the Tye and Piney
Rivers. I believe he willed it to his 13 children.
As you can see Patrick #1 would have been 10 years old when his son George was born. This
is where the census comes in. It would make more sense however if George #2 is no-one and
Patrick would have been 30 when George #3 was born. Who knows, he is a Campbell.

In the 1766 census taken at County Tyrone, the Diocese of Armaugh,
the
parishes of Aghalow and Carnteel, the following surnames are listed:
Campbell; Harvey; Garland; Wright; Angus.
These names were listed as Protestants.
I am assuming these are Scots Presbyterian people, these names likely came
over in the Scots plantation period.
I make mention of this because those same names are found in Central
Virginia, such as Amherst County Virginia, in the Colonial period, such as
1760's time period and later.
My point is that it may be possible that many of the settlers who came to be
neighbors in Amherst Co Virginia, America were originally from County
Tyrone, Northern Ireland.
They may not have migrated together on the same boat, but they may have come
over in waves of migration.
There is a river in the Central Virginia area called the TYE River, and that
was named for Tyrone. Settlers sometimes name rivers for places they
remember back home in the old country.
Best regards,
Lilly Martin (researching Campbell in Amherst Co VA)
