Wow thank you so much Bill I think I will try to find a Male 2nd cousin lol Sounds much
easier. And considering most of this Campbell family did have mostly Females that is
saying something.

Humm ok I think I understand because of your X explanation thank you
for
that. So If I did the X DNA it would only take me through my Grandmother's
Me my Eva Godwin her mother Emma Campbell her mother Mary Ann Stewart.
yep I have Campbell's Stewarts and Godwins Gee can not figure out why I
can not find anyone lol
So it would probley end up being a Stewart not Campbell line. Now did I
get that right ?
It's worse than that. Mary Ann Stewart got this DNA from her mother, and
her mother from her mother, etc. The women's surnames tend to change with
each generation.
Note that these DNA tests don't tell you how you are related, only that you
are or are not related and, if you are related, some idea of how far back
you have a common ancestor. If there isn't a reasonably close match,
there's no reason to try to establish a relationship, because it is very
unlikely to be there. If your DNAs are reasonably close, it's worth the
effort to continue looking for the connection.
I know a McCray who descends from a James McCray that he thought was
related to my McCrays, but he had not been able to prove that connection.
When he took the DNA test, the results match mine almost perfectly. Of the
37 markers tested, we match exactly in 36 and differ in the 37th by only
one. We ARE closely related. Therefore, it is worth the effort to
continue looking for the connection between us.
I also have a weaker match to a couple of known fourth cousins named
MacRae, who live in Scotland. We probably have a common ancestor within
the past 500 years. We had thought our McCrays were from Scotland and were
MacRaes back there. This match strongly supports that.
I hope those results give you a better idea of what can and cannot be
established through the Y-DNA test.
Sorry to be so lame but I am probley not the only one who is haveing
problems figureing his out (I hope) Kinda feel like the show are you
smarter than a 5th grader lol.
Lame? Looking for understanding isn't lame. It's intelligent. I don't
claim to be an expert on this, but I'm willing to answer the questions I
can.
