Sheila,
Finally someone looking for Scottish Campbells! My ancestors were from the Arbroath,
Angus/Forfar area in the 1800's. My Great Grandmother was Agnes Campbell, a
full-fledged member of the clan and permitted to wear the tartan at official gatherings.I
have gone back to 1793 James Campbell born in Rescobie . Father James Campbell servant to
Frederick Taylor at Ballendarg, mother Agnes Frazer at Carsbank. That is as far as the
researcher in Scotland will go for me. I am trying to desperately find out the original
branch of the Campbells that I am from. Any suggetions?

Subject: [Campbell] Alexander Campbell of Argyll
Now, there's an unusual name and location, right?
The people I'm checking came mostly from the Loch Awe area: Kilchrenan,
Glenorchy, Muckairn, and later Kilmore/Kilbride.
Alexander Campbell, probably born 1796, seems to have been the son of Alexander
Campbell and Sarah Campbell.
I have descendants from his sons Alexander, Duncan and Angus. There were daughters
named Cathrine and Mary, two sons named John, and a son named Archibald. Is anyone else
out there researching this family? If so, I'd like to compare notes with you.
