I am looking for more information on the parents of William Campbell
who is
my great great grandfather:
William Campbell
Born 4 Oct. 1855 in Polk, Taylor County, Iowa
Married 17 Aug. 1879 Nancy Rebecca Hutchings in Mills County, Iowa
Died 4 July 1942 in near Hale, Carroll County, Missouri
He died while visiting his son James Albert Campell.
I have family stories that state William's father was:
James B. Campbell
born about 1822 in Tennessee
He fought in the Civil War (maybe the 29th Infantry Regiment Iowa) and
wasn't killed in action but I think he died of his wounds.
James B. was married to Catharine who was born about 1826 in Kentucky.
I believe they had 6 children as follows:
John Campbell (boy) born about 1847 in Missouri
Henry Campbell (boy) born about 1849 in Missouri
M E Campbell (girl) born about 1851 in Iowa
W P Campbell (boy) born about 1853 in Iowa
William Campbell (my g-g-grandfather) born 1855 in Polk County Iowa
Ann Eliza Campbell (girl) born 1858 in Iowa
According to the Federal Census of 1860, James, Catharine, and their
children are living in Polk, Taylor County, Iowa. Any information about
James, Catharine, and their children would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Audrey
