I am interested in your Alexander Campbell and his siblings John, thru
Archibald.
My Alexander Campbell b 1823 d. 1906 in/near Bear River, Nova Scotia is
my current brick wall. He married ML Merry in 1847 in Bear River, NS.
I'm trying to find his parents w/no luck so far. Any insight you may
have if my Alexander is from your contacts would be appreciated.
I'm new to the list, so I hope this is the appropriate response!

Subject: [Campbell] A few Alexander Campbells
Those of you looking for an Alexander Campbell in Scotland may possibly
be interested in these, all in Argyll:
My Alexander Campbell was born in Muckairn in 1796. I am pretty sure his
parents were Alexander Campbell and Sarah Campbell. No proof yet,
though.
Other siblings in the family seem to have been: No name, John
(1792), Dugald (1794), Ann (Nanny), Angus (1806), and Archibald (1808).
Any of these could have migrated to Canada or USA.
My Alexander stayed in Scotland and married Isabella McIntosh of
Ardincaple in 1822. Their children were: Alexander (1823), Cathrine,
Mary(?), Duncan (1828), John, Angus (c1831), John, Archibald. Of these,
Alexander, Duncan and Angus remained in Scotland. However, the second
John (1837) or Archibald (1840) could have started Campbell families
elsewhere.
In this generation, Alexander (1823) married Mary ?? about 1855 and
they had: Sarah, Alexander (1858), Jessie and Isabella. No idea where
they all dispersed.
Brother Duncan (1828) married Catharine MacDougal(d) in 1859. They
had Mary, Duncan (1861), Isabella and Catherine. Son Duncan left
Scotland under something of a cloud and is said to have been murdered in
Australia... or maybe Africa... or maybe America! If he had progeny, we
don't know about it and have found no trace of him. So far.
Brother Angus (1831) married Mary Swan in 1861 and had Angus, Annie,
Isabella and Mary. Angus presumably died young. Mary did migrate to the
US, where she served as an army nurse in World War I, and died at a VA
hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Angus (daddy) married a second time, to Mary
King, in 1890. They had Janet and Angus (1892). This Angus apparently
migrated to Indiana and had a family. Is anyone out there part of this
family?
Well, that's the best I can do today for migrating Alexander
Campbells and their siblings.
