A.T.,
I have two different Campbell families who have submitted DNA tests to SMGF
(Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation). We have been notified that the
tests were received at SMGF and are being processed. SMGF posts the results
online (
www.smgf.org) but they do not notify you of matches. SMGF has
partnered with
www.genetree.com to help analyze and match their DNA samples.
When we get results from our two Campbell families I will be back in touch.
In the meantime, you can go to
www.smgf.org, click on "The Database", select
either Y-Chromosome Database or Mitochondrial Database, enter your marker
values and see if you have any matches. If you see a match or possible
match, you can contact them and they will broker a conversation between you
and the match.
I am still learning how SMGF works, but it's nice to have a totally free DNA
test. The only problem with them is they don't notify you of matches, and
their search procedure is hard for normal humans to understand. And you
have to continuously monitor their database to see if a new match has been
processed by them.
Sorry for the long description. My daughter says I have too many words in
me.
Betty
