Hello,
I don't have an answer for you. I am not sure of the burial place. But I
do understand the family and have gathered all the names and dates for the
family of John Campbell.
It would seem that John Campbell was the son of Francis Campbell.
John Campbell had some problems in his life, he left his wife and kids for a
time, and was absent. Sort of like he ran away for awhile, but in the end
he came back. In 1850 census he was living with his son Edmund Stewart
Campbell.
Amelia died before her husband, but never mentioned him in her Will, it was
as if they were estranged from each other.
In the 1820 census John Campbell was living next door to Nancy Coffey, who
was listed as over 45 yrs of age, and with over 20 slaves. I believe this
Nancy would be the mother to Amelia Coffey Campbell. This census was taken
in Nelson Co VA.
I would imagine that Amelia Coffey Campbell is buried with her parents,
probably on, or near their farm in Nelson Co VA. I suggest finding out
where the COFFEY family (Edmund Stewart Coffey, Sr) did burials, and that
would probably be the likely place.
As to the burials of Jesse and his wife, and Edmund S. his brother, I would
also suspect they would be buried near COFFEY families as well, maybe near
their Mother?
As to where John Campbell was buried: if he did have a shakey relationship
with his wife, and her family, he might be buried at some other location,
perhaps where Campbell people are buried?
Do you have the Nelson Co Cemetery book? I do not have it, but you might
need to find this book, or someone who does. Jesse died 10-25-1861 Nelson
Co VA. His brother Edmund S. died 1868, and their father John died
7-25-1858, and their Mom Amelia died 1840.
Maybe someone can look up those names and dates and see if they have been
listed in the cemetery book of Nelson Co VA. Make note of COFFEY names as
well, that might tip you off to where they are.
Can you please post back here on the list if you find any of these people?
This is very important to me.
My ancestor is George Campbell, Sr who died in 1791 in Amherst Co VA. He
had a neighbor named Francis Campbell of Nelson Co VA, and thru dna testing
it was proven these 2 men are related, though we have no idea how, or where,
or when.
If John Campbell was the son of this same Francis of Nelson Co, then his
family would be my relatives as well.
We need a person named Campbell, a male born a Campbell, who is from Jesse
or Edmund to take the dna test, so we can see if John Campbell who married
Amelia Coffey is the son of Francis.
Best regards,
Lilly Martin

I am looking for the burial place of Jesse C. Campbell - born about
1797 in
Nelson Co., VA., died October 25, 1861. He was the son of John and Mildred
Emelie Coffey Campbell. He married Mary C. Spears on Dec. 21, 1820 in
Nelson Co. I also need her burial place as well.
Thanks for the help.
