Laura,
After looking at your post again, decided to give it a try. I believe Julia
is probably the daughter of Peter Campbell who was in Marion Co., Ga who
died sometime before 1843. According to Marion Co., Ga Estate Records, Peter
Campbell Inventory / Appraisal 12 Dec. 1843, page 131. According to census
records he did have a daughter Julia's age.
Peter Campbell came from Morgan Co., Ga. and married Louisa West. Louisa is
the daughter of William West born 1762 in Virginia who married Alice
Lawrence Edg ?(can't even read my own writing) on Jan. 22, 1792. (this
information is also on the Ga archives)
I believe Peter Campbell is the son of Charter Campbell born in Virginia in
1786 and died in Morgan Co., Ga. on March 26, 1838. Charter is believed to
be the son of Rev. John Campbell who came to Ga. abt. 1800 with his brother
Catlett Campbell. It is believe that Charter Campbell married Elizabeth
Wittich, daughter of ErnestWittich. (This maybe where the Ernest name came
in) I also saw the name of Nicholas Howard mentioned , which I believe
Nicholas H. Campbell who also married in Marion Co., Ga. is probably Julia's
brother and son of Peter Campbell.
All of this information can be found in the GaUSGenweb Archives Project,
just type in the counties for Morgan and Marion and put in Campbell.
I did look at Archibald Campbell who was in Marion Co. and came out of
Jefferson Co., Ga. but I honestly believe Peter is your man.

Subject: [Campbell] Julia Ann Campbell
Well, once again tossing the mystery of my great-great-grandmother,
Julia
Ann Campbell out here hoping someone has tucked her away in a database and
is wondering just who the heck she is. Julia Ann was born June 10, 1832
in
McDuffie County, GA and died July 8, 1904 in Sylacauga, Talladega County,
AL. She married Zedekiah McMath December 6, 1846 in Buena vista, Marion
County, GA. They moved to Alabama and spent most of their life in Clay
County. They both are buried in Tallasahatchie Cemetery in Sycamore,
Talladega
County, AL.
Their children were John Thomas, Elizabeth, William Wesley, Mary Indiana,
Sarah A "Sally", Sasea "Susie", Ann/Anna, Earnest Virginia
"Ginny" (my
great-grandmother), Elijah George (moved to Mississippi), Alma Mae "Babe"
and
Miles L.
The Heritage of Clay County book, in error, reports that when Zed and
Julia
died they were taken back to Georgia for burial in Ellaville, however as
reported above, they are buried in Alabama.
The only clue to Julia's heritage is a report on one of the census that
her
father was born in Virginia. The odd name given to my great-grandmother
(Earnest Virginia) stretches my imagination to wonder if possibly she was
named after Julia's father who was born in Virginia and maybe named
Earnest,
but no evidence of this. There are some reports that Julia's name was
actually Julia Ann Earnest Campbell. Not sure where this came from, but
probably in my notes somewhere.
So, that's it for Miss Julia. Hope there's a cousin out there with all
her info at their fingertips.
