Hello List,
Well, I'm posting my John CAMPBELL (there seems to be loads of them!).
John Campbell was born Sept 26, 1835, and according to the 1880 Texas, Fannin
Co., Soundex, where he lived at that time, he was born in MISSISSIPPI. He
died May 13, 1910, which we have noted in an inherited bible, but don't know
if the place of death was Texas, or Oklahoma.
September 24, 1861, Calhoun County, Alabama, he married Caroline "Carrie"
Myler MALLORY.
They had the following children:
William Strait Campbell, born August 23, 1862, possibly born in AL, or ARK.
He died Dec. 12, 1863.
Clyde Campbell, born January 28, 1865, possibly in AL, or ARK. He died
September 7, 1868.
After the death of these two sons, that left no known son to carry on his
name.
Mary Eliza Campbell, born Dec. 8, 1869, married William Edward COPE.
Dolly Laura, or Laura Dolly, Campbell, born January 14, 1870, and died July
17, 1957.
Alice/Allice Campbell, born October 15, 1873, married a Mr. GRAHAM.
Beulah/Bula Campbell, born January 26, 1876, Ladonia, Fannin Co., TX, married
Aug 31, 1899, James Houston MONTGOMERY, in Ladonia, TX, and died Dec 31, 1953,
in Oklahoma City, Okla. Co., OK.
While tracking John's wife....Caroline Mallory's father was William Mallory
who died:
Sept 11, 1860, in Calhoun County, AL.
Sept, 1861, she married John Campbell, in Calhoun Co., AL
As of Sept 11, 1866, her brother, William, Jr., and her were noted in a
Statement For Final Settlement on her father's estate, as both living in
JACKSON COUNTY, ARKANSAS.
1869, daughter, Mary Eliza was born in Arkansas.
1870, daughter, Laura Dolly/Dolly Laura was born in Arkansas
1873, daughter, Alice was born in Texas
I also read about a John Campbell, who I don't know if he is mine, but would
like to know if possible:
Source: "Fight & Survive!", A History of Jackson Co., ARK in the Civil
War,
by Lady Elizabeth Watson......page 49, 1862, Company I, Capt. John
Campbell....this unit included men who lived between the two towns of Augusta
and Jacksonport, ARK.....there was also a mention of a Capt. Richard Hooker
reorganizing his 30 day volunteers at Jacksonport, just before this John was
metioned.
If anybody recognizes any of this information, please contact me. Thanks.
