Hi,
I am looking for ancestors and descendants of F. (Francis) W. Campbell.
He is my gg-grandfather. He was born in March of 1843 in either Bedford
County or Clarion County Pennsylvania (I have information leading me to
both places). F.W. served with the 78th PA Volunteers in the Civil War.
He was married to Christine Longstreth. They had nine children, Alex,
Elsie, Daisy, Charles, Harry Bell, William, Sara, John, and Sam. I am
certain that they lived in Armstrong County for a time and eventually
moved to Moon Run, Allegheny County in the late 1880's to 1890's. F.W.
was a blacksmith. He died in March of 1916.
I have recently been told a story from a relative that my Campbell
family ended up in Western PA around the time of the Battle of Bushy
Run. One of my relative supposedly served with the Black Watch regiment
in Haiti and came to Western PA to help the British fight the Indians.
So I am looking for any connections.
Regards,
Rich Geib
