So, my own William Campbell doesn't appear to be the son of William
Campbell, son of "Black" David Campbell, as previously portrayed. It is
very interesting. I have William Campbell, who married Mary Ann King on
February 10, 1794 in Jefferson County, TN. William Campbell was dead by
June of 1818 and in Dallas County, AL.
He left the following family:
Descendants of William Campbell
1 William Campbell d: Bef. June 1818 in Dallas County,Alabama
. +Mary Ann King b: 1777 d: Aft. 1849 in Dallas County, Alabama
...... 2 Archibald Campbell b: 1795 in Tennessee d: 1857 in Texas
.......... +Mary Ann Howell b: 1805 d: 1860
..... 2 [1] William Campbell b: 1798 in TN d: 1870 in Dallas County, AL
.......... +Isabella Barnes b: 1827 d: 1913
...... *2nd Wife of [1] William Campbell:
.......... +Mary Ann Hill b: August 14, 1806 in South Carolina d: August
17, 1846 in Dallas Co, AL ..Pea Ridge Cemetary
...... 2 John King Campbell b: 1800 in TN d: 1851 in Dallas CO., AL
.......... +Elizabeth Anne Rountree b: in Edgefield District, South
Carolina d: in Dallas CO., AL
...... 2 James S. Campbell b: Abt. 1804
...... 2 Robert Davis Campbell b: 1806 in TN
......... +Mary A. (UNKNOWN) b: Abt. 1810
...... 2 Mary Jane Campbell b: 1808
.......... +Jacob Vanderslice b: 1797 in PA
...... 2 Margaret O. Campbell b: 1816 in AL
.......... +Simeon Mixson d: in Texas
Some of the above children died in Dallas County, AL, some moved on to
TX...still others died in Madison County, AL.
And then, to add to my thoughts on the ancestry of the above group is that
somewhere, they fit into the family of "White" David Campbell....based upon
the fact that the widow of Judge David Campbell of TN was right there along
with these early Campbells of Dallas County, AL..it is more than apparent
from the early Dallas County records.
So who was Archibald Campbell of early TN and Augusta County, VA? Could he
have actually been the father of William Campbell who married Mary Ann King
in Jefferson County, TN in 1794? James Campbell, son of Archibald, married
in Jefferson County a few years later.
