I did some research last week and found some new information on my 2 CAMPBELL
lines. Does anyone see any connections here?
Betsey Campbell (married name) was born in 1808 in Scotland. She emigrated to
NA through Nova Scotia where at least two of her four children were born.
Alex Campbell b. 1850 in Nova Scotia
William Campbell b. 1852 in Nova Scotia
Alex Campbell married a woman named Mary b. 1851 in NY. Sometime
between 1880 and 1900 Alex, William, their mother Betsey and Alex's
family found their way to the Ashland Twshp, Grant MI area.
Alex and Mary had these children: (according to the census Mary is
the
of 9 living
children - so I'm missing
some)
Bessie E. b. 1877
Wallace Earl b. 1888
Arthur b. 1890
Alexander b. 1893
Bessie E. graduated from Nurses training school about 1900
and married Julius Nelson b. 1882. They had 3 children:
Sanford Nelson *husband's grandfather
Dorothy Nelson
Ruth Nelson
Second CAMPBELL line in MI
Charles H. Campbell m. Louisa Sherman (both born in NY) they went to Wisconsin
where their son Charles Willard Campbell was born, then on to the Matherton,
Ionia Co., area of Michigan where they had two more children, Henry and Mary
Campbell b. 1861 & 1864 respectively.
Charles H. Campbell died in 1865 and Louisa remarried William Leonard - in
1870 they were still in Matherton. By 1880 only their son Charles Willard
Campbell is still there with his new wife Sophronia Whitman b. 1860. By 1900
Charles Willard Campbell had moved his family to the Mt. Pleasant area.
Charles Willard and Sophronia had two children:
Effie Louise Campbell b. 1880 *my greatgrandmother
Willard Campbell b. 1884
Does anyone recognize any of these people or typical migration patterns?
