Kirk: Thanks for your response. The actual analogy is 11 CN towers ...
which is worse!
The impression your ladies had may not be too far wrong... we really don't
know what will happen if there are documents and registers left over / not
spoken for. Actually the APOLROD website at
http://global.genealogy.com/apolrod.htm, while not right up to date, is
probably a better website to direct people to.
We are working in the Toronto office and are looking for volunteers to
assist ... about 4, not half the city! At present we would prefer that
there be no story in the Toronto papers, we are not sure if we can handle
it; so please do not pass this along to a writer. Thanks.

Thank-you for clearing this up. It still is a little sad but good that
you
are making those inroads into preserving those documents. I hate that
I
only
have second hand information however, the analogy that there was
enough
documentation that could be stacked over 2 CN Towers was rather funny.
The impression that two of the ladies from the meeting were left with was
that these records were to be destroyed if a home could not be found for
them. This is where I became alarmed. I did however post the OGS web site
address for those to inquire further. Additionaly, I work at a large
Toronto
Newspaper and although not a writer, I could forward your plight to
one
of
the writers if you wish. It might make a nice human interest story.
It
could
also make you very busy as well.
Thanks for setting me straight and not allowing me to go off
"willy-nilly".
Kirk
