Hi Judy
Dear old dad sang to me:
"With my shillelagh under my arm
And a twinkele in my eye
I'll be off to Tipperary in the mornin'"
According to Webster's Dictionary it says:
"shillelagh (from Shillelugh, in County Wicklow, Ireland) an oak or
blackthorn sapling made into a cudgel; hence, any club or cudgel."
Hope this helps
Cheers

Hello all,
Everyone seems to be quiet in Campbell land. Now may be the right time to
ask an unusual question.
I am writing stories of my grandfather, who had Scottish ancestry. He often
spoke of a walking ( swinging, hitting, poking, means of personal
protection ) stick. He pronounced it " she-la-lie". I would like to be able
to spell it correctly, but cannot find it in my dictionary.
Can someone help me?
Judy
