Marge,
I believe Hope Campbell was a son of Alphonso and Sarah J. Campbell, per the
1870 and 1880 Amherst Co., Va census. Alphonso is living in Nelson Co. in
1850 in a Layne household, I have no idea who his parents were.

In the WWI draft registrations, Herman (age 6 above) lists himself as
working for Hope Campbell, he was single at the time...slender build, dark
hair, not bald, blue eyes. Born in Nelson county VA 2 July1893. He was
single.
Worked the farm with his dad in the lower area..lived RFD New Gle?son????
