PLEASE permit Me to, Bring to the attention of the SEEKERS of authenticty,
A Great idea; But lets take A look ay Hanover County, Va.
Formed in 1720 From New Kent County, Va. the jurisdiction of hanover
county, Va. covered the area from North East of Richmond Va To What is to day
West Nelson County, Va. To the Hanover Court House, At lease 75 miles; NOW
as i waas raised up in amherst County, Va From 1926 to 1737 &m have been in
contact with the Area for all of these Many Years; I do not believe that
OUR Campbell Family Ancestors would Take time from Makeing a Liveing from
Hard Scrable Farming to ride 150 Mile Round Trip to Record ANY THING. And My
Cousins Is why we have not found Many Records that we Think should Be Some
where.
Before Hanover County in 1720 the Area was New Kent county, With its
Court house East of Richmond, Va. Rideing A Horse or BUGGY, that would Be At
lease a Three day trip. this is not my imaganation, That is
The teretory & distance in NEW Kent County, Va. Of which Curent Nelson
County, Va. Just happened to be at The West End OF.
One of the most miss leading bit of Genealogical research is that the
Abscence of a MAP in Research & Not Knowing When the Counties were Formed, With
OUT, I do not undestand HOW any one could Posiabley do Research, with No
map Or knowing when the Jurisduction's Changed. I see some Researchers
showing a Jurisdiction being Formed 10-20 Years to soon. And another BIT of
INFO- Many Marriages were performed By a Circut Rider, the Marriage Liscence
were issued in the county of the BRIDE, BUT the Circut Rider ,,was not
required to registor the Marriage in the County that the County that the
Marriage was performed in, Many ofthe Marriages were performed in the County
where the Bride Lived, BUT rge Circut Rider Registered the Marriage in the Next
COUNTY SEAT that he came into,
That would leave records in another County from which One has Been
searching. CUZ AT

In follow up with those that have posted James as the father of
Joseph, none so far can provide a source - other than the timing and place
fits. The
most prominent researcher and author of the Book "Tidewater Families of
Virginia",, written by Virginia Davis (now decd)) suggest that a
possibility
exist that Joseph Campbell that married Elizabeth Peatross , may be George
Campbell Senior that was born in 1700 and died in 1749.
I do not believe anyone has provided a source or documented the fact that
the wives of Henry and Lawrence and now James were in fact Catlett's. No
doubt that the wives of Henry and Lawrence were
in fact Catlett's - as the information has been passed down for many
years
by family members. The Catlett clans were prolific and could have
provided many beautiful wives in both Spotsylvania and or Caroline
Counties.

Well, they are showing this as the reference for James being the
father;

I don't use
Ancestry.com so I'm not familiar with this database. Anyone
know what the nature of it is? Is it simply GEDCOMs people have uploaded
or something more?
