Notes for JOSEPH J. CAMPBELL:
Joseph J. Campbell enlisted in Capt. Edmond C. Cook's Company,
Tennessee Volunteers as a private , 21 years old in Nov. 2, 1861,
mustered into service by Lt. T. W. or M. Hunt. Nov. to Jan it became
Co. H, 32nd Reg't Tennessee Infantry. Then, June 14 to Nov. 1 it
became Co. D 32nd Tenn. Infantry. Jan. 1,1862 he was reported
absent with leave sick. In June to Nov. 1862 he was reported "Left sick
at Russellville reported dead". " Never paid". I have not located Joseph
on the Census in Tenn. after this.
Not sure if Russellville is in Mississippi, Alabama, Virginia or Tennessee.
The 32nd Regiment Tenn Infantry was organized October 1861;
surrendered at Ft. Donelson, Tenn, Feb. 16,1862, released on parole at
Vicksburg, Miss. Sept. 12,1862; and re-organized at Jackson, Miss.
Sept. 19,1862.
