Family lore has it that our Campbells came from Tennessee on horseback to
settle in Arkansas.
One of Ephraim's granddaughters stated on a later census that her father,
Jarrett, (my great grandfather) was from Georgia. Ephraim's wife, Naomi
Butler (name also family lore) was also from Georgia.
In 1829 in Jackson County Ark, there was Ephraim, Jarrett, and William.
Brothers? Father and Sons? Cousins? Who knows? Ephraim's son Jarrett (my
great grandfather was born in Jackson County Ark in 1828 per his civil war
papers), so Ephraim had to be there by 1827.
Also, I found a Peter Jarrett had married a Lucy Campbell in North Carolina.
(Trying to backdoor tracing the Jarretts) I have found a Ephraim Campbell
that was born in 1790 but can't tie it in with my Ephraim.
I wish we could fit it together.
I wanted to add this bit of Information. The first wife of Jarrett (my great
grandfather) was Sarah Jane Smith, who was a great granddaughter of Samuel
Covey. Samuel Covey was born in 1761 and fought in the Revolution from New
York as a Minuteman. Later, he moved to Montgomery County (now Pulaski
County) Virginia and there he substituted for Robert Campbell, under the
command of Col. William Campbell. Samuel fought on King's Mountain.
From Samuel and James Covey moved to Franklin Tn. Later Samuel stayed in
Jefferson County TN and his son,James and family moved to Ark. The
Pollard* Family was also in this migration. They settled in Montgomery and
Hot Spring Counties where Ephraim later moved to.
Jarrett and Sarah Jane (mother was Susannah Covey, daughter of James) must
have known each other as children. It's just too coincidental. After Sarah
Jane died, Jarrett, the Pollards and Coveys all moved to Texas and Jarrett
married Ellen Pollard - Sarah Jane's first cousin. My grandmother Fanny
Josephine Campbell, was two at the time of the marriage.
That's why I keep thinking that Ephraim ties in with Robert Campbell and
Col. William Campbell in Virginia. Maybe not a son, but a grandson of
Robert's. I keep searching to see if Robert and Col. William migrated to
Georgia (received land for revolutionary service) in Ga.
