The obit below is from the Daily Advocate, Belleville, St. Clair county,
IL. I have on file a letter from the Belleville News Democrat (which the
Advocate became a part of in later years) giving me permission to post any
item that would be of help to genealogists. Unless stated to be a different
state, all references to cities, villages etc. are in Illinois. I have been
reading the Advocate on microfilm through inter library loan for several
years, having started with 1850. The name of the paper and the paper date

LOCAL COUPLE TO OBSERVE FIFTIETH YEAR OF WEDDING
Tuesday, June 6, will mark the golden wedding anniversary of Mr
and Mrs. Frank S. Burns, of 201 South Seventeenth steret, a prominent
couple of this vicinity.No celebration has been planned for the event.
Frank S. Burns and Miss Ella Campbell were married June 6, 1883,
at St. Louis. Witnessing the ceremony were Miss Annie Whitehill, now Mrs.
William Meyer, of St. Louis, and Charles Cooper and family, of Seattle, Wash.
Five children were born to the Burns-Campbell union, three of whom
are living. Elizabeth and Norman died in infancy. The living childre are:
Frank W. Burns, of 203 South Seventeenth street; Ray-mond C. Burns, of East
St. Louis and Dr. Stanley S. Burns, of 4603 Pershing avenue, St. Louis. The
seven grandchildren are Norman and James, children of Mr and Mrs. Frank W.
Burns; Grace and Dorothy, daughters of Mr and Mrs. Raymond C. Burns;
Virginia, Nanon and Stanley, Jr., children of Dr. and Mrs. Stanley S. Burns.
Mr. Burns, a son of Mr and Mrs. William Burns, was born at
Davenport, Iowa, May 28, 1858 and came to Belleville about 48 years ago,
after living in St. Louis two years following his marriage. He was a
glassblower by trade, but was forced to give up the work on account of his
health. He was the proprietor of a grocery store in the west end of town,
for approximately 30 years and served the Retail Merchant's Association as
secretary for many years, and is now custodian of safety deposit boxes at
the First National Bank.
Mrs. Burns was born February 18, 1859 at Pittsburgh, Penn., a
daughter of Mr and Mrs. William Campbell. She came to St. Louis with her
parents in the year 1876.
