Lindalee,
Thanks for replying. This is what I have. William(One-eyed Billy), son of
Duncan, was born abt. 1777-78. d. 1847. In the 1810 census he had 4 sons
under the age of 10. I believe that my Obediah b. 1807 is one of those sons.
Your Jesse would also be in this generation. Do you have a date of birth?
Also William had a brother named Jesse and one named John. They did tend to
name children after family members. I didn't know the court house in
Abbeville had burned. Maybe that's why we can't find a will for William. Do
you know when it burned? I also have some info on another Campbell family
from Abbeville, not related, and will check to see if there is a Jesse and
Sarah there.
Best Regards,
Luan

Luan:
I am so excited! I have been watching all of this activity and you are
the
first that sounds really close to my line. So far, all of my line
has
been
in Anderson County, SC, but I am at a brick wall with JESSE and
SARAH
CAMPBELLL and believe they moved just over the line from Abbeville County.
They had 5 boys (4 died in the War Between the States) and one was named
WILLIAM OBEDIAH(will have to double check his dates), JOHN W. (b.
5-24-1838, d. 2-12-1864); JAMES N. (my line) b. 11-11-1840, d.
10-9-1863.,
JESSE ALEXANDER (b. 3-1-1845, d. 5-20-1863. The baby boy did not
go, his
name SAMUEL.
I have been to Abbeville County to research, but did not have any luck.
Their courthouse burned and they lost a lot of records, but I really did
not know what to look for. I would love to get more of your details and
see
if I can jump my brick wall!!
Lindalee Campbell Cleveland
PS James N. and Samuel were the only two that had children, the others
died too young. James N. only had one child: JAMES MASON CAMPBELL
