Greetings-
Unfortunately, I have not gone back as far as you have- but these
Campbells of mine are a stubborn lot- I feel as though they just might
be making it difficult on purpose! My grandmother's favorite line when
asked about the past and Scotland was "Shush! Just never ye mind, it nay
concern ye!"
Of course later I found she had left two children behind . . . a very
sad story, and possibly too painful for her to talk about-
But, regarding your Robert Campbell, if you have any other bit of
information you might try the
familysearch.org web site. Limit your
search to Scotland and the two years. I did a quick look through, and
it appearred as though some Roberts were listed, but without parent's
names, rather an informant at birth may have been a realtive
(non-Campbell whose name may fit somewhere in your tree), or family
friend. -
Just a thought. Do you not have anyother tidbit in which you might be
able to glean something slight detail which could narrow the search- a
wife, child - etc.-?
Good luck. I also have also utilized services, "Scottish Roots"
(pricey, slow, but accurate) and another source (5 Stars) :
http://www.abel.co.uk/~ancestor/index.html
-I don't remember what I paid, I supplied him with copies of everything
I had, and a nominal fee (extremely reasonable -the fact that I don't
remember is a statement itself as to how reasonable he must have been).
Thorough, complete, accurate, fast, and a keen sense of how and what to
search next. If you are really stumped, I would contact him, and see
what he can do or suggest!
Take Care-
